Our Story – The Origin of Notes of Yore

Picture of Devon Kubacki

Hi there, My name is Devon Kubacki, a lover of Dungeons and Dragons and Tabletop RPG games. I have been playing dungeons and dragons for about a year now with a group of people who have become some of my best friends. There are a lot of things I’d like to share with you – and I hope that you learn something from my work here on Notes of Yore.

When was Notes of Yore Created?

I started Notes of Yore in September 2021, but in reality, the idea for this site has been in the back of my mind ever since I started my first campaign last year during the pandemic. See, I actually run another blog about live streaming, known as Streamer’s Haven, where I go by the Pseudonym of “Monodex”. But I wanted to also write about something that wasn’t so technical in nature so that I can have a little bit more creative freedom with it.

And so, this leads me to why I started the blog.

Why I Started the Notes of Yore Blog

Adventure Log - A DND Session Notebook

I originally started this website as an idea to act as a publisher’s store about some of the notebook designs I’ve done. However, I quickly realized when making the website, that I love DND enough to write about it, and thus, the scope for the site expanded to include what you see here today.

My Plans for the Future

I am not the most experienced when it comes to this subject, but I like to think that I can provide some interesting ideas for you to incorporate into your own DND or tabletop games. At some point, I even plan to write a campaign guidebook of my own, because honestly, that just seems really fun. The idea that there are groups of people going through a campaign that I have written myself is something that tickles my pride, and I really want to try my hand at it.

Ambitious? Maybe. But if the people who created gems like the Dragon of Icespire peak can do it, I don’t see why I couldn’t do the same, or at the very least, try.

I also want to make playing a DND game more fun, or more streamlined. My first DND Session Notebook was designed with that in mind. I’m learning a lot every day, so I hope that you find the content I make here to be helpful.
